Promotional video - Music Video

For this assignment, we were asked to look for found footage from pexels.com to edit together a music video with a song of our choice, using Adobe Premiere Pro as our editing software. I previously used Premiere when I was in my Media Arts class back in high school, but haven’t touched it since. So, it was very exciting to learn new things and re-learn processes with the updated version.

Choosing the song for this assignment was pretty difficult, but I eventually landed on “Mystery of Love” by Sufjan Stevens. This song was written for the movie “Call Me by Your Name” by Luca Guadagnino. I recently re-watched it and, because of the way the movie was filmed, I thought it was a great inspiration for this assignment. With the found footage, I wanted to make sure that I had a lot of nature shots (specifically in Italy) and shots of couples being together. If you’ve seen the movie, I think you will see the correlation. Once I found all of the footage I wanted, I took my media and edited the music video based on the lyrics and rhythm as much as possible. Because the movie was actually shot on film, I wanted to try and create a grain/noise over the footage to make it appear a little more film-like. I hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed making it.
